Kangaskosken voimalapato on purettu, mutta padosta on jätetty osa näkyviin kertomaan voimalan historiasta. Myös voimalarakennus on suojeltu.

Kangaskoski is the lowest of the three free rapids on the river Hiitolanjoki located near Russian border. The free flowing white water is stunning to observe in all seasons. About 200 meters downstream, there is a campfire shelter.

  • An easily accessible destination for all visitors
  • Download the Kangaskoski Mobile app to explore the paper mill that operated over 100 years ago
  • Campfire spot in a beautiful river bend
  • Historical industrial environment
  • Free rushing rapids

Kangaskoski's hydropower dam was dismantled in 2021, and the surrounding area was restored to be accessible to everyone as a visitor site. It is pleasant to sit by the rapids at the former power canal and listen to the sound of flowing water. On the island between the river branches next to the power plant, one can explore the operations of the area's first sawmill and paper mill that functioned in the early 20th century.
