By Car to the Arctic Circle Hiking Area
The Arctic Circle Hiking Area is located approx. 25 km north-east of the city of Rovaniemi along Road 4 (E75). The main starting points of the trails can be found close to the Road 4 in Vikaköngäs and at Vaattunkiköngäs, where the main road turns onto a gravel road about 2.3 km long called Vaattunkikönkääntie. Makialampi parking area at Vaattunkikönkääntie junction is also a possible starting point. The starting points of the trails are accessible by car even in winter. In spring, during flooding and thawing, Vaattunkikönkääntie road may be temporarily closed; check the current situation on the What's new page.

AccessibleSodankyläntie 2508, 97510 Rovaniemi. The parking area is accessed from Highway 4 (E75), near the village of Vikajärvi. Winter maintenance. In winter, there is space for 10-15 cars. Along the plowed road leading to a lean-to shelter area there are 3 parking areas, where there is no winter maintenance. In summer, there is parking space for about 40-50 cars.
