The Koronjää day trail leading into the Korouoma gorge is currently very slippery. The uphill sections of the trail are especially risky.
There is no winter maintenance on trails managed by Metsähallitus, and trails are not sanded. Therefore, you should not enter the terrain without proper traction devices – shoes with studs alone are not sufficient.
Essential winter hiking gear includes traction devices equipped with steel spikes, which should be purchased or rented and worn before setting out. In addition, walking poles with spike tips provide extra support and safety in slippery conditions.
