Repovesi wells tested safe for drinking in July 2025
08/12/2025According to the scheduled inspection carried out in July 2025, the water from all wells in Repovesi National Park is safe to drink without boiling. Some wells contain iron-rich water, which may appear yellowish in color.
There are five drinking water wells available for all hikers in Repovesi National Park: at Olhavanvuori, Saarijärvi, Lojukoski, Kuutinkanava, and Määkijä. Additionally, there is a well at the Valkjärvi reservable camping area.
Based on the latest testing, the water from all wells is drinkable as is.
- The water at Kuutinkanava, Saarijärvi, and Lojukoski contains a high amount of iron, which may affect the taste and cause a yellowish tint.
To ensure the water remains safe to drink in the future, it is important not to wash or do dishes directly at the wells. These activities should be done at least five meters away from the wells and natural water sources such as lakes.
Repovesi’s drinking water wells are tested every three years. Additional testing may be conducted if necessary.
