Skiing

Ski tracks lead from Liminka Bay Visitor Centre all the way to the village of Liminka. In good ice winters, a ski track leading across Liminka Bay offers wider views of the protected area.

  • The best skiing conditions can be enjoyed in March as the wind blowing across the frozen bay becomes less bitter.
  • Cross-country ski trails are maintained by the municipalities.
  • The municipality of Liminka maintains the ski track across the bay when allowed by the ice conditions. The conditions of the ski track across the ice may vary quickly within a few days. Brisk southerly and westerly winds can cause water to rise on the ice.
