In the Kaldoaivi wilderness reserve, you can stay overnight in your own tent, in a wilderness hut, or in a rental cabin.

Lean-to Shelters and Camping

Hikers are free to choose their own camping place in the wilderness. It is recommended to camp on the grounds of the open wilderness huts, near the designated campfire sites, or at places which have been previously used for camping, to avoid wearing of the ground. You need to carry a tent or equivalent, even if you plan to stay in open wilderness huts.

  • Lean-to shelters are located at Opukasköngäs, Kontinpaistama, Saunakoski and Kallokoski.

  • There are campfire shelters at Skaidijärvi and Skiecharasjärvi.

Open wilderness huts, rental huts and rental turf huts

  • An open wilderness hut is shared accommodation where self-guided hikers can rest and spend the night free of charge.

  • In a shared reservable hut, you can book a bed for one or two nights against payment.

  • A rental hut is accommodation that you can rent for your private use for one or several nights.

You can stay with us any time of the year in high-standard apartments, summertime in the clean and cosy summer cottages or the caravan area. The location of the holiday village on the shores of the great Tenojoki River, surrounded by the grand fell highlands, guarantees perfect natural tranquillity. Four new riverside cabins (for 12 guests). The recently renovated apartments have been individually designed and are well equipped. There are seven apartments (sleeping 14 guests), four apartments with sauna (sleeping 18 guests) and 11 summer cottages (sleeping 38 guests). Each has its own entrance and small decking area. Guests can use the campfire shelter on the river bank. In the summertime you can bathe in the shoreside sauna and take a swim in the Tenojoki River. At Nuorgam Holiday Village the vast Arctic nature is always present.
