The municipality of Liminka has started renovations on the path leading to the Temmesjokisuu birdwatching tower at Liminka Bay, and the work has already progressed significantly.

Due to the renovation work, the path known as the Temmesjoki nature trail is completely inaccessible, and all movement in the area is at the traveler's own risk. During the spring, the work will be paused due to the bird nesting season in the area, but the intention is to continue the work so that the path will be usable again in the fall, before the busiest autumn migration season at Liminka Bay, which occurs in September. Delays in the progress of the work are possible.

The municipality of Liminka has received a grant of €23,000 from the Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for the renovation of the path. Read more about this in two news articles from the municipality of Liminka in Finnish: Temmesjoen lintutornin ja luontopolun kunnostamishanke käynnistyy (liminka.fi) and Temmesjoen lintutornin ja luontopolun kunnostamishanke etenee (liminka.fi).

Liminka Bay is an important wetland nature reserve, a breeding and resting area for birds, and part of the Natura 2000 network of protected areas. Metsähallitus maintains a visitor centre at Liminka Bay, which provides guidance to hikers and birdwatchers interested in the area. The Liminka Bay area consists of several private nature reserves, some of which are managed by Metsähallitus and some are also near the Temmesjoki nature trail, which is currently undergoing renovations.
