A modest day-use hut is available year-round. Demanding maritime destination.

The day-use hut is an open and shared resting place for self-guided hikers for daytime use without reservation or fee. Overnight stays are not allowed in the day-use hut.

There is no pier on the island. Anchorage.

In winter, the best starting point for skiing to Hietakalla from the mainland is the Vatunki harbor in Kuivaniemi in Ii municipality, from which the direct distance to Hietakalla is 6.2 km.

Facilities:

• Fireplace with a flue.
• No drinking water point. Water from natural sources must be purified before drinking.
• No waste management. Take your own waste out of the area.
• Pets are not allowed in the hut.
