Meals, Where to Buy and Prepare

Campfire Sites

  • There are campfire sites at Siltalahti Bay, at Cape Korteniemi, at Savilahti Bay camping site, at Peukalolammi sleeping shelter and at Kaksvetinen Lappish kota hut. 
  • A picnic table can be found at all National Park parking areas, except at Sikomäki and Peukalolamminkangas. 

Please note that lighting campfires is forbidden also on the campfire sites when the wildfire warning is in effect. Check the current warnings (ilmatieteenlaitos.fi).

  • This prohibition does not apply to cooking shelters or other fireplaces with a flue and a roof.

Waste management

  • There are no waste-bins in the area. Measures should be taken in advance to avoid taking unnecessary waste into the area. Biodegradable waste should be placed in a dry toilet or compost and small amounts of clean paper and cardboard can be used as kindling in a campfire.
  • There is a compost point at Korteniemi parking area behind the dry toilet.

Toilets

  • Dry toilets can be found at Pirttilahti, Kopinlahti, Siltalahti and Korteniemi parking areas.
  • Dry toilets can also be found at Savilahti Camping Site, at Peukalolammi sleeping shelter, at Kaksvetienen Lappish kota hut and at Korteniemi Heritage Farm.

Overnight Stays

Camping, Lean-to Shelters and Campfire Shelters

Camping is permitted within the National Park at Savilahti camping site. There is also a sleeping shelter in Peukalolammi and a Lappish kota hut in Kaksvetinen. Camping is allowed near them.

Rental huts

  • Hyypiö Rental Hut, 4 persons. An old and modest wood cabin with a sense of tradition. The cabin is situated on the shore of Lake Kyynäränjärvi. It is equipped with bunks for 4 persons, a wood heated oven and a wood heated stove. The grounds of the hut are equipped with a well, a campfire site, a sauna and an outdoor toilet. There is also a smoke sauna on the beach, which can be ordered separately by those who have booked Hyypiö Rental Hut. The heating season for the smoke sauna is 1 May to 31 October.
  • Peukaloinen Rental Hut, 2 persons. A small modest hut on the shore of the peaceful Lake Peukalolammi. The cabin is equipped with a wood heated oven and bunks. Additionally the grounds are equipped with a toilet and a firewood shelter.

Rental Sauna

The smoke sauna at Korteniemi Heritage Farm can be rented by the public during Farm's opening hours. Included in the price (300 e) are guidance on the use of the sauna, heating, washing water and cleaning. Accessible Services

  • The demanding accessible Peukaloinen circle trail (3.8 km) can be reached from the Peukalolamminkangas parking area in the national park. There are accessible campfire sites and dry toilets along the trail.
  • The Tittilampi cooking shelter is a reservable accessible shelter for 20-25 people. There is an accessible camping area right next to the cooking shelter, where it is possible stay overnight by reserving the cooking shelter. There is an accessible dry toilet in the building next to the cooking shelter.
  • There is an accessible dry toilet in the Korteniemi parking area in the national park. The Korteniemi Heritage Farm can be reached by visitors in wheelchairs along a sandy forest road, which runs approximately 300 metres from the parking area. The Korteniemi hut is accessible by wheelchair on ramps placed upon request. An assistant is recommended.

Other Services in the Surrounding Area

  • Many services can be found in the centres of Tammela (tammela.fi, in Finnish) and Forssa (forssa.fi). The town of Forssa is located 25 km from the National Park and the centre of the municipality of Tammela is 23 km away.
  • A taxi service and foodstuff kiosk with post service can be found in the village of Porras in Tammela.
  • The closest shop and petrol station with diesel fuel is in Forssa.
