The Visitor Centre offers information on Urho Kekkonen National Park
as well as the tourist, hiking and recreational options offered in the area. The
municipality of Savukoski tourist information office operates in Korvatunturi
Visitor Centre. Other services at the Visitor Centre include the permanent
Wilderness exhibition and changing exhibitions in Galleria Kurra. The restored
Kuusikko-oja loggers’ cabin is on the grounds of the Visitor Centre, and open to
the public .

Driving Directions
By Car
Road signs marked "Opastuskeskus Korvatunturi" (Savukosken luontotalo) on
Highway 965 (Pelkosenniemi - Savukoski - Salla) and on Highway 967 (Tulppio -
Savukoski).
By Public Transportation
Daily bus service to Savukoski from Salla, Pelkosenniemi and Sodankylä (see:
www.matkahuolto.fi). There’s a bus stop
by the Visitor Centre.

Events
The Visitor Centre has varying exhibitions and events
Permanent Exhibition
The permanent exhibition’s main focus is the wilderness and its
vulnerability. Exhibits range from wood-eating insects such as bark beetles and
parasites decomposing wood to the great predators of the wild – the bear and the
eagle. The changing relationship between humans and nature is another important
topic of the exhibition.
Kuusikko-oja loggers´ cabin
The restored loggers´ cabin on the premises is open during the summer months
when the Visitor Centre is open.
Auditorium and AV Presentations
The Visitor Centre’s 77-seat auditorium has AV equipment. The visitor can
view a slide show on the Urho Kekkonen National Park in English or French. The
auditorium can also be rented for conference use at 40 e per hour, 200 e per
day. The Visitor Centre has a wireless Internet connection.
