The Kiehinen Customer Service Point in the Siula building in
Saariselkä is a starting point for nature hikers. At Kiehinen you will find
information and advice on the marked winter and summer trails in the area, and
on the Urho Kekkonen National Park and the Hammastunturi fell area. The
exhibition along the Ruija trail presents the area’s fantastic and diverse
hiking opportunities.

By Car
Saariselkä is located by road 4 (E75) about 30 km south of Ivalo and 260 km
north of Rovaniemi.
By Public Transportation
- There is a coach connection to Saariselkä from

airport and trains (www.vr.fi) arriving at
the Rovaniemi railway station.

Permanent Exhibition
The new permanent exhibition, ”Ruijan polulla, on Finnmark Trail”, at
Kiehinen Customer Service features the beautiful lanscape, natural features and
hiking possibilities of the Saariselkä area, Urho Kekkonen National Park, Sompio
Strict Nature Reserve, the Ivalojoki, Hammastunturi and Tsarmitunturi Wilderness
Areas and Lake Inarijärvi. The exhibition also provides information on
environmentally friendly hiking and on fishing. Visitors learn about the area’s
plant and bird species, as well as how northern nature differs from southern
nature. Texts at the exhibition are in Finnish, Sámi and English. There are also
Swedish and German texts available.
Services for the Disabled
The customer service point has a wheelchair ramp at its entrance. The
customer service area, inside the building, is accessible by wheelchair. The
building has a toilet for the disabled.
