What can one do in Nuuksio National Park?
Walk on Marked Trails
In Nuuksio National Park, there are about 33 km of marked trails altogether in the surroundings of
Lake Haukkalampi, Kattila and Lake Siikajärvi. Hiking on the circular trails,
which are 2 - 7 km long and start at Haukkalampi Nature Information Hut, gives
the visitor a good general picture of the park.
Go Trekking
Nuuksio National Park and its surroundings offer a good opportunity for hikes
lasting over-night. By combining the shorter trails of the area, or by hiking
off the marked trails, it is possible to make a hiking trip lasting for the
whole weekend. Hikes can be extended to the recreational areas owned by the
cities of Helsinki
(www.hel.fi) and Espoo
(www.espoo.fi) in the surroundings. Inside the National Park, it is possible to
stay overnight in a tent, a lean-to shelter or the reservable huts of Oravankolo
and Tikankolo.
See the Nature Information Hut
In the Haukkalampi Nature Information Hut
you can see the exhibition about the Flying Squirrel.
Walk on Nature Trail
In the National Park you can find out about habitat restoration on the
2-km-long Nature Trail called Nahkiaispolku.
The trail is in difficult terrain.

In Nuuksio National Parks there are no maintained skiing trails, but skiing
is allowed everywhere in the park. The nearest maintained skiing trails are in
the recreational forests of the surrounding towns of Helsinki
(www.hel.fi) and Espoo
(www.espoo.fi).
Go Fishing
In the National Park, angling and ice fishing is allowed by everyman´s
right (www.ymparisto.fi), except in certain areas where no fishing is
permitted. For lure fishing the Southern Finland’s provincial
lure fishing fee (www.mmm.fi) needs to be paid. Brook Myllypuro is protected
in the whole of its length.
Go Cycling
The National Bike Trail Network’s route number 2 runs through the National
Park. About 14 km of it is inside the National Park area. Altogether there are
about 30 km of biking trails. Please note that cycling is only allowed on the
trails designated for this purpose.

National Park there are about 22 km of riding trails.
Go Rock Climbing

Go Swimming
Swimming is allowed in all the lakes or ponds in the National Park, but there
